SET Coaching athletes set PRs in March!

Congratulation to SET Coaching Athletes Stephen Ettinger, Mike Waring, and Carrie Atwood who all set PRs in the last couple of weeks doing some early season events.

Stephen Ettinger, A professional Mountain Bike Racer who Races for the BMC development team just finished his best result to date.  Stephen served notice that he is going to be one of the top MTB racers coming up over the next couple of years finishing 10th in the First National Level race of the season at Bonelli Park.  Stephen also just missed his first Pro level national podium by finishing sixth in the short track the following day.

Mike Waring, while training for Iron Man Coeur D’Alene, did the Mercer Island 1/2 marathon on March 21st and bested his last PR by 6 minutes!  Way to go Mike!

Triathlete Carrie Atwood took part in a local 5k in her home town of Issiquah Washington.  Even in just a smaller event (200 to 300 participants) she was able to place 1st female and 3rd overall!  She bested her previous 5k pr by 30 seconds!

Just got back from Tinley’s excellent adventure race…

Spent the weekend down in California doing the Scott Tinley’s Excellent adventure off road triathlon that was a qualifier for the ITU off road world championships in Spain next April.  Had a great time with some great weather!  Here’s a little blurb on the event.

SET Coaching Athletes have a Successful June!

Cora Sturzl, a long time athlete with SET Coaching, has just gotten back into the ring after some time off working on an injury.  We have been dealing with a running injury for the last few months.  Cora has worked hard at changing her running from and working on a solid foundation for the rest of her season (which includes Duathlon Worlds).  In her first race back Cora took 1st in her age group and 7th overall female!  Way to go Cora!

Stephen Ettinger is coming off of one of the best Junes he has had in recent memory.  Stephen has been working withSET since he was 16 yrs old.  Early this month Stephen, who races professionally for Team Mafia, came home for a little R & R after his trip to Europe with the National U23 team.  Stephen raced the local Bike and Brews bash in Leavenworth and won by over 7 min!  Three weeks later Stephen lined up at the Subaru Cup Norba XCT at the Wisconsin Off Road Series and took 13th against the best competition in the country.  This is setting up Stephen perfectly for the U23 National Championships coming up in July which is a big focus of his training.

Sara Barkley is also continuing her dominant ways.  Sarah raced the first race in the Tri N.W. series races at the Walla Walla Onion Man in late May taking second place overall.  This was Sarah’s first triathlon about 5 years ago so it is exciting to see how far she has come.  Sarah has been racing locally in the tri cites and taking first place in the Fiasco in Pasco Duathlon as well as the Righteous Richland Sprint triathlon.   She also placed top 5 at the highly competitive Pacific Crest Olympic Triathlon.  Sarah is steadily making progress toward her main goals.

More to come!
